Pickin' Party Pixtures - September 29th, 2001

Richard and Julie Smith in concert. They were brilliant.
Richard and Julie toying with the audience.
Django and Stephene were rolling in their graves when Richard and Arcadiy Gibs began to rip off some old Hot Club of France tunes.  ---  Thanks to Mike McGannon for providing rhythm.
This artist loves what he does..
Then Richard played solo, but not so low we couldn't hear him.
Charlie Berwinkle always looks forward to showing Richard a couple new twists.
Pete just hates playing guitar - doesn't he?   NOT!  We just love having him drive down from Cleveland to share his talents with us.
Billy Tustin and JD Norman helped me kick the party off with some great old Chet tunes.
Mark Rader just warmin' up in the lobby.
Mert, Wade, and Julie Wade Smith enjoying the rest of the party.
Smile, Chret - yer on not so candid camera...  (Chris Vickers.)
Yes, I do have a wife (Dee), and she did a darn good job helping Arnie check folks in.  (That's me makin' sure she doesn't make off with any of Richards' tip....)
I keep forgetting to mention that we hold these little Pickin' Parties in beautiful downtown Worthington, Ohio.  This is a shot of the little park right across the street from the Griswold Senior Center where we hold the meeting.
Can ya' tell he's from Kentucky, folks?  Dave Duncan - and one avid thumb picker - and, a good buddy.
Terry Efaw stopped in to play us one.  He won the Chet Atkins National Picking Contest in 1972 - "when he was in diapers...."  Now, he's 50 and back in them... (just jokin'.)
Bill Esch - still working on the Chet training video - and, getting better all the time.
JR Smith bought his self a new Taylor....
Oh, my goodness - he's playing above the 5th fret....  Betcha he's scared....
Stan Jacques drove 8 1/2 hours up from North Carolina to see Richard.
Debbie Dye came up with Stan just to make sure he made it....  You can tell by the one note chord she's holdin' that she is new to playing the guitar.  But, you should have heard her rip off a gospel medley on the piano....
Willis Crocket is getting better and better every Pickin' Party.
Thanks to Arnie Alpert and Aliene Duncan for taking these pictures for us.
