It wasn't soon after Kenny Poole discovered that he had terminal inoperable cancer of the esophagus and stomach last November (2005)  that he called me and asked if I would organize an Ohio Fingerstyle Guitar Club concert for him.  "I would like to come up to Columbus and play for you guys just one last time,"  he commented.  And, boy - did he.

And, on Saturday, January 21st, 2006 we had over 100 fans and professional musicians that came from as close as "down the street" to as far away as hundreds of miles to pay tribute to and to hear one of the finest finger style jazz guitarists ever play his last concert.  The day started off with many of fine musicians in attendance "playing" tribute to Kenny with some terrific music.  (This segment is also available in DVD format below.)

Kenny was also inducted into our little Ohio Fiingerstyle Guitar Club Hall of Fame this day for "a lifetime of finger style jazz."

Kenny Poole then plugged in and flawlessly played two hour long sets of the most tasteful yet complex solo guitar music ever feathered from a guitar.  Very reminiscent of his lifelong hero and mentor - George Van Epps.  Many of his musician friends in attendance claims it might have been his best performance ever.

The video on this DVD was shot with a professional grade Sony digital video camera and the resulting footage (from a guitarists perspective) is to die for - well lit up close of both hands in perfect focus - all the time.  However, because we aren't videotographers - the original audio WAS rather saturated in spots, but with the assistance of some modern technology we were able to salvage all of the audio and make it very listenable.  It still doesn't match the quality of the video - but, you'll enjoy every bit of it...

The profits from the sale of this DVD (if any) will go into producing an instructional book to go along with this DVD - and, to rework the video into workable units.  Any musicians or transcribers that are interested in donating their talents and time to this project are encouraged to Say Hello.
