Pickin' Party Pixtures - March 24th, 2001

Pete Cavano tuning up his new McKerrihan "loaner" while his is being custom built.  New friend and local Columbus pro Mike McGannon looks on with envy..

A simply gorgeous guitar.  I've never thought about buying any other guitar than my 335 and Guild D-35 - but, this baby fit in my lap better than Blaze Starr....  (you guys are old enuff to remember her...)

Al Yeoman and his fairly new Kirk Sand..  "Did somebody say Kenny Poole and jazz?  I'll be there."
Chret Vickers, Dave Duncan, and Pete Peel are wondering,  "Hey, Palmer - whar's the thumb pickin'???"

We got in some thumb picking later that afternoon.... boy, did we.

Willis Crocket drives over 3 hours from near Huntington, WVa just to pick a couple with us.
Bruce Mock (besides being my sole defender on the Fretboard Forum) drives over 3 1/2 hours from Indianapolis to play Gabby for us.  (I think he might like jazz, as well....)

His little Alvarez is a PP favorite every time....

Kenny Poole, finger style jazz master, getting ready to perform for a room full of enthusiastic fans.

"Hey, Palmer - are you sure this old MusicMan won't blow up?"

Folks, Kenny Poole has fingers the size of my forearm - and, uses them in strange looking ways to get some of the wildest chords this listener has ever heard.  Kenny has a great sense of humor that rolls well with his upper level of music.

Come on back anytime, Kenny..  (You wouldn't like to buy that old MusicMan - would you...?)

As usual, I would like to thank Arnold Alpert for taking these pictures...
