Getting set up to go. Left to right -
Pete Cavano, JD Norman & Robert Anderson (who had just arrived from
his 6 hour drive up from Knoxville, TN.) |
 |
Pete Cavano from Cleveland, Ohio led off
with some fine smooooooth finger style guitar playing on his Kirk Sand
guitar. |
 |
Pete plays a combination of "thumb
picking" and smooth jazz - with plenty of "walking bass"
lines. He was on top of his game this day. |
 |
With a half hour left before Robert was to
go on, I surprised Frank LeFebre by asking him to play us a few on
Pete's guitar. |
 |
He didn't disappoint us in the least.
Frank stepped right up the to plate and played some great Chet/Jerry
Reed tunes for us. (He plays with us every Tuesday night at
Scottie MacBean's Coffee House - boy, are we lucky.) |
 |
Charlie Berwinkle then grabbed Pete's Sand
guitar and gave us a treat. |
 |
Our Guest Picker, Robert Anderson, then
took center stage and showed us what 20 years of practice and an extreme
talent can do for a guitar player. He must know every tune Chet
ever recorded. |
 |
I, (Palmer), then kicked off the
"pick-one-with-the-star" segment by grabbing Robert's archtop
Wallace guitar and playing some rhythm for him. (How was I to know
that it was worth 9 THOUSAND DOLLARS!!) |
 |
JD Norman then came up and picked a few
with Robert on his vintage Super Chet that he has owned and cherished
for 35 years. |
