Pickin' Party Pictures - May 17, 2003

Getting set up to go.  Left to right - Pete Cavano, JD Norman & Robert Anderson (who had just arrived from his 6 hour drive up from Knoxville, TN.)
Pete Cavano from Cleveland, Ohio led off with some fine smooooooth finger style guitar playing on his Kirk Sand guitar.
Pete plays a combination of "thumb picking" and smooth jazz - with plenty of "walking bass" lines.  He was on top of his game this day.
With a half hour left before Robert was to go on, I surprised Frank LeFebre by asking him to play us a few on Pete's guitar.
He didn't disappoint us in the least.  Frank stepped right up the to plate and played some great Chet/Jerry Reed tunes for us.  (He plays with us every Tuesday night at Scottie MacBean's Coffee House - boy, are we lucky.)
Charlie Berwinkle then grabbed Pete's Sand guitar and gave us a treat.
Our Guest Picker, Robert Anderson, then took center stage and showed us what 20 years of practice and an extreme talent can do for a guitar player.  He must know every tune Chet ever recorded.
I, (Palmer), then kicked off the "pick-one-with-the-star" segment by grabbing Robert's archtop Wallace guitar and playing some rhythm for him.  (How was I to know that it was worth 9 THOUSAND DOLLARS!!)
JD Norman then came up and picked a few with Robert on his vintage Super Chet that he has owned and cherished for 35 years.

Thanks to George Mayle for taking these pictures.  George and his wife drove all the way in from Morgantown, West Virginia for this Party
